INTRODUCTION :
An ultrasonic cleaning is one of several application of ultrasonic to find
its way into industry on a relatively wide scale. Many commercial systems
are now available throughout the world. Ultrasonic vibrations are backbone
of this module. These are elastic waves at high frequency, which are
propagated, in gaseous, liquid or solid medium. The range of ultrasonic
waves is above audible frequency 20 KHz. An important feature of ultrasonic
waves is that they are directional and energy can be focused on to the
density and elasticity of the medium.
The principal requirements that apply to generators intended for an
ultrasonic cleaning are :
The frequency should be stable and smoothly controllable over certain range
:
» The output should be controllable over a
certain range.
» The generator output voltage curve
should not contain higher harmonics.
» The generator should be small, cheap,
reliable and easy to operate.
An
ultrasonic generator converts DC voltage to electrical energy
and finally to ultrasonic waves at different frequencies. It's available at
different wattage.
» 120 watt
» 250 watt
» 500 watt
» 750 watt

There are different blocks of an
ultrasonic generator.
» Power supply
» Push-pull amplifier
» O/P transducer
» Feedback transformer.
